Targeted Proposal Teams program issues 2024-25 request for proposals
08/19/2024
Texas A&M University’s Division of Research is calling for eligible faculty to submit proposals to its Targeted Proposal Teams (TPT) program for the 2024-25 academic year.
The program is designed to encourage interdisciplinary research and to leverage external funding from government agencies and private foundations.
Proposal submissions are due by Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. CDT. An information session is scheduled for Sept. 6.
“The 2024-25 edition of TPT builds on the success of our previous awards,” said Dr. Jack G. Baldauf, vice president for research at Texas A&M. “The program is evolving to meet the needs of our principal investigators and to advance our research enterprise. By providing targeted support and resources, we aim to empower our faculty to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges.”
With $5 million in seed funding available, the TPT program supports innovative research projects across three categories:
- Collaborative Seed Grants: Providing up to $60,000 for high-risk, high-reward projects in their early stages. These grants cover personnel costs, research supplies, and project-specific travel. Approximately 12 awards will be granted per call.
- Proposal Planning Grants: Offering up to $100,000 to interdisciplinary teams preparing large-scale proposals. These grants support personnel costs, proposal-specific travel, hosting team meetings, and data compilation. Approximately 12 awards will be granted per call.
- Grants on the Edge: Enhancing previously unfunded proposals by addressing reviewer feedback and generating additional data. Awards range from $25,000 (for proposals under $2 million) to $50,000 (for proposals over $2 million). Approximately eight awards will be granted per call.
The program is open to faculty from Texas A&M University, including Galveston and other branch campuses, and Texas A&M System partner research agencies. Each proposal must involve at least two eligible faculty investigators from different disciplines. To download the full Request for Proposals, visit vpr.tamu.edu/tpt.
