Bioinformatics is a critical technology for neuroscience and structural biology, as well as other areas of life sciences research. Bioinformatics research topics range from complex multivariant analysis techniques for interpretation of complex data sets to simulations of molecular dynamics and density functional quantum calculations on complex macromolecules.

Texas A&M is home to more than 100 laboratories involved in bioinformatics. Bioinformatics groups located in the ILSB have ongoing collaborations with the core laboratories and research groups in the building, as well as collaborations with other laboratories on the Texas A&M campus.
