An Introduction to Texas A&M University-Mexico Research Funding Partnerships

The Division of Research is hosting an informational session entitled “An Introduction to Texas A&M University-Mexico Research Funding Partnerships” on Wednesday, November 16, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building. 

This session will highlight collaborative opportunities for Texas A&M research faculty with Mexico, including the 2017 TAMU-CONACYT RFP; Services available to researchers through the Texas A&M office in Mexico (Mexico Partnership Services); and a new facility in San Miguel de Allende, that is available for research and collaborative activities:  Hacienda Santa Clara, owned and operated by a Texas A&M former student.

Wednesday’s session will include information about the following topics: 

An overview of the resources and opportunities available to TAMU research faculty at the Hacienda Santa Clara presented by Pablo Marvin, Director, Hacienda Santa Clara. Mr. Marvin also serves on the International Advisory Board at Texas A&M. The overview will cover (2:00-2:30 p.m.):

  • Study and research center in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico
  • Mission: To be an incubator where universities, government, and the private sector will collaborate to solve real-life problems


The CONACYT Writer’s Workshop presented by Monica Holder will cover (2:30-3:15 p.m.):

  • Eligibility requirements
  • Important dates
  • Types of awards
  • Review criteria
  • Best practices for formatting and writing CONACYT grants
  • Online application system (eProposal)

And a presentation by Mexico Partnership Services presented by Suzanne Droleskey and Teresa Olvera will cover (3:15-4:00 p.m.):

  • Funding options in Mexico other than CONACYT
  • Assistance provided for funded projects in Mexico (human resources, taxes, grant submissions, contract review, etc.)
  • Bringing equipment into Mexico for research projects
  • Identifying potential partners in Mexico
