Job Description Summary
The Associate Research Scientist, under direction, is responsible for conducting semi-complex independent research into their field of expertise. The Associate Research Scientist will utilize techniques and strategies taught to them by their education and experiences to work towards solving the question presented by their research project. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assists in overseeing preparation and cleaning of worksite. May collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty.

Essential Duties and Tasks
60% Research
- Will be responsible for conducting semi complex independent research into their field of expertise.
- Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise.
- Assists in overseeing preparation and cleaning of worksite.
- Helps organize worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.
- Analyzes research data and summarizes results.
- Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
- Assists with grant acquisition.
10%: Mentoring
- May assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientist, and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.
10% Presentations
- Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
20% Duty Title (for the department’s use)
- Remaining Percentage Can Be Determined by Department to Meet Business Needs or Can Be Incorporated into Percentages Above.
Required Education and Experience
- PhD in a related field.
- Three years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- May vary depending on the area of research.

- Analytical skills.

- Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
