Special Strategic Projects

SSP seeks to support research capacity building and strategic review to assist faculty in developing competitive proposals to federal funding opportunities. SSP efforts include providing tools for the university research community, including information on being designated an Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI).

Resource development and communication

• Assists faculty with obtaining data, getting answers or linking to resources and programs, in addition to the service provided by Sponsored Research Services (SRS), and to benefit the proposal’s competitiveness and effectiveness when funded.
• Developing resources, templates and sample text for proposal requirements:
  • Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Toolbox and Designation Letter
  • Graduate Student and Postdoc Mentoring Plan – NSF required for graduate students and Postdoctoral researchers
