I am pleased to announce that Dr. E. Brendan Roark, College of Arts & Sciences, has accepted an appointment as an Associate Vice President for Research in the Division of Research, Centers and Institutes Management, effective October 1, 2022.
Dr. Roark joined Texas A&M University in 2008 and has built an international research reputation that has garnered university, national, and international recognition.
In his role, Dr. Roark will oversee the management and review of university-based research centers and institutes approved by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. He will bring:
- Administrative leadership, in association with the Research Development Fund (RDF) through the Council of Principal Investigators (CPI)
- Knowledge in leading, funding, and staffing of facilities
- Experience in meeting the demands of faculty responsibilities
Dr. Roark will provide leadership (including strategic planning and budgeting) to selected Division of Research centers, institutes, and programs as well as to the university’s core and shared research facilities. He will lead the University-Agency Operations Committee to coordinate with the A&M System’s state agencies to ensure broad collaboration within the Texas A&M research enterprise.
Dr. Roark will continue with his fall semester academic and administrative duties as associate professor in the Department of Geography and director of environmental programs in geosciences, College of Arts & Sciences.
