Legacy Foundation Collaborative Grants


Limited Submission Program (LSP): This funding opportunity and the Limited Submission Program (LSP) is open to all Texas A&M University faculty and principal investigators who meet the eligibility requirements. Texas A&M and The Texas A&M University System agencies jointly administer this process to select the proposal(s) that will be submitted to the sponsor in response to this solicitation.


Institutional Eligibility: 

  • Be a nonprofit organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and exempt from taxation under section 501(a); or an organization described in sections 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code,
  • Serve residents of Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr or Willacy counties,
  • Request funding for projects or programs that demonstrate a positive effect on the health of residents within our funding area, and
  • Have no funded requests on file within the previous 12 month period within the Responsive, Operational or Collaborative categories.


The proposal will be prepared and submitted by Sponsored Research Services (SRS).

Summary:  The Legacy Foundation will both accept and initiate (through an RFP process) applications for Collaborative Grants, requests that fall between $50,000 - $500,000.  These are meant to encourage collaboration among organizations working on larger projects, but a single organization's larger project could qualify as well.  If you have a project that exceeds $500,000 that you believe The Legacy Foundation would be interested in funding, please call or email us to discuss if it could be considered a Foundation Initiative.A Letter of Interest (LOI) will be required first, once reviewed, the Foundation will notify the organization and if approved, then a more in-depth application will be required. All proposals for the LSP must be submitted electronically using the e-proposal on-line application system.


Be prepared to upload your internal proposal. The sections will include a one-three page research plan summary, two-page bio-sketch, and preliminary budget.


The e-proposal site is password protected. Texas A&M principal investigators may use their NetID and password to access the system. If you do not have a NetID, click HERE for help to activate your NetID. You will need your UIN and your date of birth.  Once you log-in to e-proposal, choose “Limited Submission Grant” from the Available Grants section.
