Brian Larson’s research interests include the study of rhetoric and argumentation, especially in legal and professional communication. He focuses on rhetorical and argumentation theory in context and practice, using text-analytic, computational and cognitive methods. His other research interests include the law of online contracts and empirical research methods.
Larson has organized a group of legal writing and legal rhetoric from around the United States. His goal in founding the Classical Rhetoric and Contemporary Law (CRCL) study group was to restore the intersections between these two fields. He intends to incorporate the scholarship arising from this group into scholarly essays that will bring the disciplines of law and history of rhetoric together, along with a reader and a law-review article that makes its own important contribution. Larson’s fellowship will support his research and allow him to recruit more collaborators.
