Developing SBIR/STTR Proposals to the Department of Defense

A campus-wide workshop for faculty and staff interested in pursuing funding from SBIR/STTR programs. This particular event is a two day in-person workshop focused on developing competitive SBIR/STTR funding proposals to the Department of Defense (DoD). The on-campus workshop will be followed by a webinar in early December to review details of the newly released DoD solicitation and provide an opportunity for interested applicants to participate in Q&A regarding the identification of topics and preparation of their proposal.

November 2: SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation for DoD
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.   (Lunch will be provided)

Dept. of Defense SBIR 2017.1 and STTR 2017.A solicitations will be pre-released on November 30 and open January 10 with a February 8 deadline. Join SBIR/STTR expert, Becky Aistrup, for this informative workshop, which will provide detailed instruction on preparing a proposal to meet the mission and standards of the Dept. of Defense SBIR/STTR programs.

  • How to identify a topic
  • The importance of talking to Technical Points of Contact during the pre-release period

November 3: Commercialization for SBIR-Stage Companies
8:30 - 12 noon

With commercialization plans being a key differentiator in the SBIR/STTR programs, it is important to know what the agencies are looking for and how to go about developing good plans. This session will discuss the expectations that various agencies have for commercialization plans in your Phase I and Phase II projects, where to find cost effective market research resources, what quality “support & commitment letters” are, and more.

December 8 Webinar: Follow up webinar to provide details and specifics on DoD SBIR 2017.1 and STTR 2017.A
The solicitations are now in pre-release. Learn about any changes in the instructions or other areas of the solicitation and get tips on how to search the components and topic(s), how to contact the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) and what to ask as well as how to influence future topics.

Becky holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry from the University of Kansas, an M.B.A. in Marketing Management from the University of Minnesota.
