ABOUT

  • This six-month program will help principal investigators develop a full, competitive proposal ready for submission to the National Institutes of Health or the National Science Foundation in 2018. See FAQ for additional information.
  • Open to all Texas A&M PI-eligible researchers.
  • No cost to participants. The $4,000 program fee is paid by participant’s department and/or college (a combined cost of $1,600) and the Division of Research ($2,400).
  • Limited to 30 PI-eligible researchers.
  • Participants work with Dr. John D. Robertson, a highly experienced consultant and managing member of Grant Writers’ Seminars and Workshops (GWSW).
  • Participants must attend a required on-campus workshop and 30-minute individual consultation in College Station on January 24-25, 2018. Out-of-town participants are responsible for travel costs to and from College Station.
  • Research Development Services is available to assist investigators with subsequent resubmission applications if needed. 

 

PREREQUISITES

   NSF
applicants must

  • attend the Write Winning NIH and NSF Grant Proposals seminar (Core and NSF-Focus sections) on Sep. 21-22, 2017, and
  • own a copy of The Grant Application Writer’s Workbook, NSF Version.*
  • NOTE: This program is not designed for NSF CAREER applicants. See events in the Junior Faculty Writing Program Academy at https://u.tamu.edu/JFPWA.

 NIH applicants must

  • attend the Write Winning NIH and NSF Grant Proposals seminar on Sep. 21, 2017 (Core and NIH-Focus sections) or attended the Write Winning NIH Grant Proposals seminar on Sep. 22, 2016, and
  • own a copy of The Grant Application Writer’s Workbook, NIH Version.*
  • NOTE: PIs targeting the NIH who attended the 2016 NIH seminar (and therefore qualify for this program) are still encouraged to attend the 2017 seminar, Core and NIH-Focus sections, if at all possible.

*January 2017 edition. Sep 2017 seminar attendees receive a free copy of the workbook. NIH applicants who attended the 2016 seminar will also receive a January 2017 edition workbook.


APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. The PI completes application via eProposal and uploads the required biographical sketch on or before the October 6 deadline. See eProposal Guide for information on the application process.
  2. The Division of Research notifies the PI and GWSW that the application has been completed.
  3. GWSW emails instructions to candidate for the pre-proposal.
  4. The PI submits the pre-proposal on or before November 9 deadline.
  5. GWSW and DOR review pre-proposals and select program participants.
  6. Participants are notified of selection in early to mid-December 2017.
